Pinking out the area started in Welaka with the Welaka Woman's Club leading the way. The various woman's clubs in Putnam County put their heads together and decided to "Pink Out" the whole county!! Starting in September individuals or businesses can sign up and\, for a donation\, the POP committee will come to your location and decorate in all things pink. We will also be selling pink flamingos (which is the POP mascot) to place wherever you like in honor or support of anyone who has been affected by breast cancer. You can even "flock" your neighbor if you want! Our kickoff event will be a 5K fun run/walk combined with a festival at the Crescent City Woman's Club on October 7th. We will also have tables at the Welaka Forestry Festival on October 21st. There will be food and fun at both these events. All money raised will be donated to the Putnam First Cancer Fund to assist residents of Putnam County who have been diagnosed with cancer or who may need diagnostic testing to determine the presence of cancer.
