Every block is alive. Explore the permanent collection of historical murals throughout the town and find buildings wearing special mini murals painted by local artists for this event. School groups have turned chain link fences into colorful art walls. Even the crosswalks and sidewalks are fair game to be decorated with temporary graffiti and chalk art. In front of the courthouse are the trees wrapped in bright crochet art. Around the corner\, will you find the imagination stations where you can paint\, make music\, or weave with recycled materials. Storefront windows are part of the fun too businesses compete for the Best ARTober Display. As you reach the Riverfront\, the sidewalks explode in chalk part of our National Art Day celebration (which just happens to be Picasso's birthday). Inside the River Center\, kids are painting\, dancing\, and making art. In the park\, you're likely to find a pop-up sculpture garden\, performances\, or even floating art on the river itself. All of this is created by local artists\, students\, and volunteers and it's all free for the public.
