DESCRIPTION:Our presenter will be Ms. Rhonda J. Masters\, Historian for St. Paul's Episcopal Church at Federal Point. Ms. Masters is a lifelong resident of Florida\, born and raised in St. Augustine. In 2006 she moved to Federal Point and became a member of St. Paul's where she serves as church secretary. Her love of history resulted in her appointment as church historian. She has conducted extensive research into St. Paul's history through the Florida Diocese's archives and other resources. One of the many Episcopal churches built along the St. Johns River in the 19th century\, St. Paul's was founded by retired sea captain Edwin Smith in 1880. In 1882 J. E. Onley\, a Black carpenter from Jacksonville\, was contracted to build the sanctuary. The first service was held on July 30th\, 1882 in the Carpenter Gothic church.
