Description
Mary E. Murphy, reference/research librarian, former Putnam County archivist, and former Putnam County Historical Society historian will present the story of the Racimo citrus plantation that operated in the Georgetown area of Putnam County from 1884 until 1895. Leonard Dakin, a second generation banker from New York, invested in land in the Georgetown area for citrus production. He was also an amateur photographer and captured images of the plantation and his family. The presentation is also a love story where Leonard courts Jessie Messnore and they marry in 1889.
